The Problem
Most outdoor surfaces fail the coastal environment.
Concrete patios stain from salt, crack from ground movement, and hold heat in summer. Tile grout turns black from moisture and mold within a single season. Wood and composite decking warp, splinter, and rot under constant salt air exposure. Pavers look right for a year — then shift, separate, and fill with weeds.
Resin bound paving eliminates each of these failure points. The surface is fully permeable, so water moves through rather than sitting on top. Every aggregate stone is locked in resin — nothing shifts, nothing separates, nothing grows between gaps. And the finish holds its color and texture through years of direct coastal exposure without retreating or resurfacing.
For outdoor living spaces on coastal properties, that level of performance isn’t optional. It’s what makes the difference between a patio that improves the property and one that becomes a maintenance problem.
Sound Familiar?
If you own a coastal home, you've probably seen this.
These are the patio problems we hear most — before homeowners find a surface that actually holds up outdoors.
“he tile grout on our patio turned black within one summer. We’ve had it cleaned twice and it keeps coming back.”
“Our concrete patio gets so hot in July you can’t walk on it barefoot. And the salt stains won’t come off no matter what we use.”
The composite decking looked great in the showroom. After two seasons of salt air it started warping at the edges and fading completely.
“Water pools in the corner of our patio every time it rains. We’ve had it re-graded once and nothing changed.”
“The pavers are shifting and there are weeds growing up through every gap. It looked beautiful when it was installed.”
“We want an outdoor living space that actually looks like the rest of the property — not something that needs to be replaced every five years.”
Every one of these problems is the result of a surface that wasn’t designed for the coastal environment. Resin bound paving is.
The Material
What makes resin bound paving different outdoors.
Resin bound paving is produced by thoroughly mixing natural aggregate — stone, gravel, or recycled glass — with a clear UV-stable resin. The mixture is laid in a continuous bound layer over a prepared base. Every stone is fully coated and locked in place. There are no loose particles, no gaps between stones, and no surface that can crack or separate.
For outdoor living areas, the finish is smooth enough for bare feet, furniture, and foot traffic — but textured enough to provide grip when wet. It meets ADA accessibility requirements and drains at a rate that meets Clean Water Act standards.
Aggregate color blends are selected to work with the existing architecture and landscape of the property — not just from a standard chart. Each project is specified individually for the site’s sun exposure, drainage conditions, and aesthetic requirements.
Installation
Two approaches to your outdoor surface. One right answer for your site.
OVERLAY INSTALLATION
Resin-bound paving applied directly over an existing structurally sound concrete slab — without excavation or demolition. The existing base is cleaned, repaired where needed, and prepared before the resin-bound layer is applied.
Best suited for: patios with sound existing concrete, properties where minimal disruption matters, renovation projects where the base has held up well over time.
GROUND-UP INSTALLATION
Full excavation, engineered sub-base construction, and resin bound surface installation from scratch. Required when existing surfaces show structural failure, drainage problems, or when a new outdoor area is being created where none existed.
Best suited for: new outdoor living areas, patios with cracked or heaving concrete, properties with standing water issues, sites where grade correction is needed for drainage.
Our Process
Every outdoor surface starts with understanding the site.
1
Site Assessment
We evaluate drainage, existing base condition, sun exposure, and the relationship of the patio to the home and landscape before recommending an approach or aggregate blend.
2
Custom Specification
Aggregate color, base build-up, edge detailing, and drainage integration are specified for your site — not selected from a standard package. Every project is designed individually.
3
Certified Installation
Installed by a certified resin bound specialist with 25 years of experience constructing exterior surfaces across coastal South Carolina and Georgia.
4
Warranty Coverage
Every resin-bound patio installation carries a 20-year product warranty. Materials are sourced from manufacturers with documented performance in coastal environments.
Why It Works Here
Outdoor surfaces engineered for the coast.
UV Stable
Aggregate color does not fade, yellow, or chalk under prolonged direct sun. The resin binder holds integrity through coastal UV cycles without retreating.
Salt Air Resistant
Resin and aggregate systems specified for chloride penetration resistance — the leading cause of surface deterioration on coastal patios and outdoor areas.
Fully Permeable
Stormwater drains through the surface at a rate that eliminates pooling and meets local drainage requirements. No standing water. No runoff redirection.
Barefoot Comfortable
Lighter aggregate blends reflect heat rather than absorbing it — significantly cooler underfoot than concrete or tile in direct summer sun.
The Comparison

Where We Work
Serving coastal South Carolina and Georgia.
We install resin bound patios and outdoor living surfaces across the Lowcountry and coastal Georgia — including Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Charleston, Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Hilton Head, and surrounding waterfront communities.
Coastal conditions vary by location — salt exposure, drainage patterns, and sun orientation differ from one property to the next. Every installation is specified for the site, not copied from a previous project.
